Old Possum’s Book of Ancient Mainframes

I subscribe to a classic computing mailing list that is full of traffic like “What’s the best way to get rid of animal dung in my 9-track tape drive?” and “Can anyone identify the following hardware?” (followed by a link to something boxy left out in the rain for a decade or two). The most common problems appear to be dead power supplies (the analog stuff always seems to go first, dunnit?) and getting old busses to traffic in signals again. Software? I suspect that most list members just toggle the stuff in. From memory.

One suubscriber in Canada recently got hold of an old System/32 mainframe that came with possum trouble (warning: slightly graphic).

Anyway, the list is at http://www.classiccmp.org/mailman/listinfo/cctech. Enjoy.
